Vicksburg MS
On the first day of our vacation we traveled to Vicksburg MS. We decided to stop there and let the boys play some, run some, swim some, and relax before hitting the road again the next day for Florida.
We decided to visit the Vicksburg Civil War Site. The boys didn't get it and didn't understand why there were canons everywhere and why there were memorials and headstones to the thousands of people that died in this war. It was still good to take them there and show them this beautiful land and "attempt" to teach them about what happened on these very hills. They just wanted to run the hills.
I couldn't help but think of all those sad Mom's and Dad's after seeing all the headstones of these kids (just young boys) that were killed in this war. So sad, but so beautiful too. The hills are rolling, the grass and trees are a lush green, the sky is amazingly blue, and the sounds are so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed our experience in Vicksburg very much!
