Too Long!

It had been too long!!  When it's been since June 27th since you've seen your best friend, that's a long time.  Schedules, families, and now her Master's program make it difficult for the journey.  It's a 3 hour flight or a 12 hour drive, and usually a 4 day commitment when we see each other.

This time around I went to Kentucky.  It just happened to be her oldest child's birthday. I've never been able to be in attendance at a party for her kids, so that was fun.  Gavin turned 10 and decided to have a laser tag/arcade party.  I felt like home watching 14 boys running around screaming, laughing, playing, and screaming.  Oh, I already mentioned that one?  It deserved to be typed twice:)

Thankfully, I avoided the blizzard that hit the week before and dumped around 15 inches in Lexington.  I was fully expecting to arrive and to have snow stacked 2 feet high (like it was the year before when I was there).  Amazingly, it had been pretty warm ever since the blizzard moved through.  There were big snow piles scattered around the town and neighborhoods but they were no issue to anyone anymore.  I am beyond thankful for that, because if you know me at all, you know that Winter is NOT my favorite season.  By a long shot.  In fact, the only good thing about this season is when it is over!  Amen.

Steven stayed home and performed the good Daddy duties by watching the boys and keeping the dog alive.  I didn't mention the word "homework" because that one thing that was supposed to be done while I was gone, never even got opened once.  Guess who had to be the bad guy when she got home?  Yep, you guessed it.

I have to give him props though.  He did amazing with the boys (as always).  He took them fishing at our land, took them bowling and playing arcade games with their friends, Gavin and Brody, took Will to Academy to stock up on all things baseball season for when it begins next month, and played round the clock games of basketball and Clue while here at home.  Oh, and he kept the house clean and did laundry.  My only laundry when I got home was my own and I didn't have to pick up the house at all.  This man loves me and that is just another way he proves it!

I'm thankful for a husband that takes care of me, our family, and our house while I am gone.  I'm thankful for a friendship 26 years long and for a person who is truly my "other half" in girlfriend relationships.  My life would be completely different without either of these people in my life.  I love them totally.
