We just got back from our ski trip. Here is a picture I took from the top of the mountain. We went to Wolf Creek in Colorado. It was a very exciting trip. On the way up we were trying to beat the blizzard that was coming in. Well we didn't. We had just got into Colorado and Jackie was driving. The road was very slick and our SUV slid off the road and we started going sideways up an embankment. We all thought we were going to flip but by the grace of God we didn't. We ended up on the service road about 15' up from the main interstate below. What's funny is that we had just prayed for our trip about an hour before that happened.

So after that little stunt we continued. Next we hit La Vevda Pass, which from everyone that we talked to said if it's been snowing you don't want to drive on. Well we didn't realize we were on it until we reached the summit. We made it down the pass safely and from there it was only an hour to our lodge where we were staying. We thought we were home free but as soon as we got to the bottom of the pass they we ran into a road block. The road was blocked because a semi had jack knifed and then they closed the pass behind us also. So we got stuck in Ft. Garland. We stayed there for the night. The hotel we stayed in was run by a very strict German woman. For some reason she liked me though and gave me a hug and told me I was her new boyfriend when we were leaving. Jackie was standing right there so don't judge me :)

Quote of the weekend: When we were in Ft. Garland we went and ate dinner at the restaurant across the street. The lady that owned it told us about the semi. Kyle said, "Are you sure it was a semi?" and the lady said, "Well it's kind of hard to jack knife a dump truck." Hilarious!!!

The skiing was awesome but tiring. One the way back we got rerouted through Texas because Hwy 412 through Slapout, OK was still snowed in and to many accidents on the road. We made it home safe but it was a long trip.

Good Day

In one week from today we leave for our ski trip. I'm pumped to be able to go this year. I love skiing. We're going to Wolf Creek. I've been checking on temps and they have been in the low 50's to high 40's which is crazy warm for skiing. I'm going to get so sunburned!

Jackie is excited too even though she will not get to ski this year. She is planning on bringing lots of books and magazines to read, sitting by the fire, and just relaxing. This will be one of the last time she can truly relax before the joys of two kids set in!

We have been playing outside a lot this week since the weather has been so nice. Jackie and Will will play again today outside after they get back from the Dr. Jackie is going for her 5 month check up for Owen. I can't believe he will be here in 4 short months. Crazy!

Have a good day everyone:)

Home&Garden Show

Sorry it has been a few days since the last post. It's been a crazy week trying to get ready for the Home & Garden Show going on this weekend. Will got sick on Tuesday and has been fighting a cough, runny eyes and nose, and a sore throat. Poor guy looks pretty rough.

Yesterday was the second day for the show. These shows begin to wear on you after a while. Some of the things we do to try and help pass the time is count the number of people wearing denim on denim. What I mean is wearing denim jeans and a denim shirt. If you are reading this and you fall into that category I'm not going to apologize. You can just thank me later for helping you recognize this fad went out 20 years ago. Another thing I do is glue a quarter to the floor and watch the people kick and claw at it trying to get it up. I even saw one guy snap the end of his pocket knife trying to get a glued quarter up. Idiot!!!!

Well, if you're not doing anything this weekend come see us down at the show. Sonrise has a booth downstairs and upstairs so you shouldn't miss us. Bye.

French Fries

Will loves him some French Fries. So Jackie and I were out running some errands and Jackie was thirsty. We were right by a McDonald's so we pulled in got J a drink and Will a small fry. He of course gobbled them up. Well then he decided after about 5 minutes to regurgitate them all over himself while in his car seat. We were about 10 min from home still so he had to sit there with it all over himself until we got home and could clean him up. That boy has some kind of gag reflex. Oh, as I was cleaning out his car seat I took the cover off and found about a weeks supply of snacks in the crevices of car seat (goldfish, crunchies, fruit snacks, etc...). I guess it's good to know that if our car ever breaks down in the middle of no where we could survive a couple weeks from the remnants in Will's car seat.

Relaxation Day

We didn't do much today. We went to church Saturday night so we could sleep in Sunday morning. Will actually did sleep in. We had Kyle and Mel over for lunch. I made ribs again. Will and I put together a horse swing for the play set this morning. He's not actually much help. He just likes to mess with my tools and probably actually thinks he is helping. Jackie and Will went to the new Target in Broken Arrow tonight and Jackie said there was this little girl about 3 years old crying and whining. They were standing looking at something next to the little girl and her mom and Will looked over at the girl put his hand up to his mouth and said "Shhh". Kids are so funny. After this week our blogging might go down hill. We tend to get very busy after the Home and Garden show so I might forget to write on our blog. Not that I forget much anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ribs, Ribs, Ribs

So the title sounds like something you would see on a BBQ menu. I made some pork spare ribs last night and I'm not ashamed to say that they were bad to the bone (that mean's they were super good). I smoked them on my gas grill. Huh? Yep, gas. I seared them first about 5 minutes on each side then set them up in a rib rack. I put a bowl of water in there and about 4 big wood chunks. I turned the gas to about slow-medium on the side the ribs weren't on and they caught the wood chunks on fire. Once the wood chunks caught on fire I blew them out and let the smoke fill up the grill. End result, the meat was falling off the bone. Put a little Dink's on them and it made them that much better. For everyone that doesn't know what Dink's is, it is the best BBQ joint in Oklahoma hands down. It's in Bartlesville. Sorry, I know I was going to do a one sentence post but the ribs deserved much more praise than one sentence :)

Tuesday

What's up readers! By the way, my son is so cute. If you disagree than you are an idiot. Anyone in the Tulsa area, the big Home and Garden show is coming up and I want you to come out and see us there. Jackie and my favorite mother in law are working it for the first time this year and they are both super excited :)

I'm going to smoke some pork spare ribs tonight and invite our neighbor's over. I've made them once before and everyone said they liked them but I thought they could have cooked just a little longer.

Does anyone else do a blog? There is only so much you can put into one of these things on a daily basis. I could talk about what Will did for the day but that mainly consists of pulling out all his toys and Jackie picking them up. On the next blog I'm going to describe what we did in one sentence and that is going to be the blog for the day.

Sunday

Jackie and I aren't doing much today. We went to Bartlesville yesterday to see her grandparents and her uncle who was in town. If you go to B-ville you have to pick up some Dink's BBQ. That's what we did and we brought it home for lunch after church. Here is that play set we set up in our backyard. Notice the roof; yeah I built that. I just stained it too so now it is a reddish color. Hopefully tomorrow at bowling I will do better than a 110, ouch! That is what I got one of my games last week. I think it was the worst game I have ever had. I followed it up with a 180 and got a free popcorn for getting 5 strikes in a row so there was a least a happy ending. Have a great week everyone.
