Easter 2016

As many of you know, our boys go to Lincoln Christian School.  Thankfully, since they attend here they get a little break over Easter.  Of course they get Good Friday off but they also get off Easter Monday.  I think that "holiday" might be made up, but that's fine by me:)

Easter began on Sunday very cold and rainy.  Due to this, we moved all our families activities to Saturday which was sunny and in the 70's.  My aunt and uncle hosted Easter, which is awesome because they live in the country and have a ton of land for all the kids to roam and play and hunt for Easter eggs.  120 eggs spread out among tens of acres.  That, my friends, is what you call an Easter Egg Hunt!

Steven's mom was able to come up to celebrate Easter with us and attend church and family functions.  It was great to have her and the boys always have so much fun with them when they are here.  She kept them entertained half of Sunday while I got loads of things done around the house.

Also during our break we did several fun things together as a family.  Steven had a basketball tournament on Friday night and his team ended in 2nd place.  I was pretty proud of him though because it was a 3 on 3 tourney.  Steven's team made it to the finals.  Steven's team was 3 almost middle aged white dudes.  The team they were playing was 3 young black men.  I'm pretty sure everyone there thought they were about to get creamed by the other team.  Steven's team did lose but only by 4 and really hung with the other team who was DUNKING.  Not a totally fair match up, as you can see, but he did pretty well!

I hope everyone had a great Easter celebrating Jesus with all your friends and family.  He is the whole reason why we hunt the eggs, eat the ham, wear our spiffy clothes, go to church, and hang out with our families.  Let's not forget that!

Parenting Wins

I'm fairly certain that out of my hundreds of blogs I have written over the years, close to 1/3 of them have been about golf:)  This is my family though, and golf, or any sport for that matter, usually find their way into our daily lives.

For day 2 of Spring Break we went to the only mini golf place in Tulsa.  PSA to all local Tulsa peeps...if you know of another one in or around here please fill me in.  Half of Tulsa seemed to be at Gilligan's Island yesterday.  1. It was Spring Break 2. It was 80 degrees 3. Did I mention it was 80 degrees?

The kids had a blast, several balls were lost in the water (most were recovered) and no tears were shed the entire 2 hours.  That's a win in the parenting books!

Day 3 of Spring Break was spent doing normal day to day errands (blah) but ended with a trip to the theater to see "Zootopia".  Poporn, candy, and soda were consumed and we had many laughs throughout the show.  My favorite thing about the movie had to be the "Finding Dory" trailer that told me the movie is coming out June 17th.  I am every bit, if not more, excited to see this movie than even my children are.  I can NOT wait!

Enjoy the rest of your break!  P.S. "Zootopia" was a cute and funny movie about going for your goals and your desires, standing up to bullies, and never quitting till the job is done.  Another parenting win for me today:)

Our First Thunder Game

Back in February, for Valentine's Day, I surprised my three boys with tickets to an OKC Thunder game the Monday of Spring Break.  Whelp, that Monday was yesterday and it was finally time for them to go.  Oh boy, they were so excited all day long.  It made for a long day until 2:30 and we could leave.

We all got dressed in our Thunder gear and made the drive to OKC.  We met up with Nana and Poppa to chow down on some yummy Mexican food at Chelino's before the game began. It was an absolutely beautiful March day and almost 85 degrees.  After dinner the kids played around outside with Nana before we made the walk to the stadium.  The boys didn't even complain about the hike there because of the weather and all the people and things they found to look at.  Owen is still my child who will pause and willingly trample flowers so I can get a good Spring picture:)  I love his shot of him.  He's busy, he's loud, he's all boy, but man oh man, he's got a killer cute smile that I still am blessed to be able to capture.

The boys were thrilled to be at the game, even though we almost needed oxygen masks for where we were sitting.  These tickets were still hundreds of dollars after taxes and fees and I'm almost positive I spotted clouds up there.  I've often heard that it doesn't matter where you sit in the arena because it's so loud everywhere and every seat is a good seat.  I can vouch for that now because they were good seats.  Once you got used to the altitude sickness and thin air, you could enjoy the game just like the people 3000 feet below you:)

Thankfully, the Thunder were able to pull out a massive win beating the Portland Trailblazers by 34 points.  I thought it would be closer than that since those two teams are 1 and 2 in their division.  Apparently, the Thunder just wanted to dominate the whole time and I'm really fine with that because I wanted a win for our first family NBA game.

We have many more fun things planned for this week so hopefully I will be able to stay on top of blogging now.  Maybe not weekly, but I will try to aim for more than every 6 weeks:)  Enjoy your Spring Break week!!!

If Been Gone Way Too Long

Life is busy for us all.  Life is REALLY busy for you when you own a pool company in the spring time. I am NOT complaining, just stating an obvious.  So, without further ado....here are a few things that have been going on in the last 6 weeks of this crazy thing we call "Life in the Spring in the Kueny Household" (that's the official name I just made up).

1.  I still try to make time for girls night outs with some of my best friends.  It's important for our relationship, and even more important to my sanity:)

2.  Owen likes to make pee stops when we visit our new land.  This time around he had been playing in the mud/gravel/dirt pile on site.  I asked him to take his clothes off before entering my car.  He obeyed.  He also decided he had to go pee and being the boy mom that I am, I got a good chuckle out of it and grabbed my phone.  I will have sooooo many good pictures to show potential girlfriends 10 years down the line.

3.  Will finished his basketball season with the Lincoln Bulldogs.  His team did really well this year with an ending record of 7-1.  This was the first time Will had played on a Lincoln basketball team and he LOVED every second of it.  I am 100% certain you will see following seasons blogs and pictures with this child and basketball.  He impressed me with his skills.

4.  Norman turned TWO!!  Norman celebrated his birthday back at the end of February.  I was going to go all out and make him a doggie birthday cake but then spring time work load decided to come early this year instead of late and the dog cake was one thing I could forget about.  Who am I kidding...I knew it was something Norman would never figure out so I forgot about it:)  Happy birthday Normie!

5.  The boys, cousins, and friend Owen went to a Globetrotters game at the BOK.  Let's just say that they all loved it, came back with MORE basketballs, and skills/tricks that they have been showing me for about a month now.  Again, I see another Globetrotters visit over the years in this family.

6.  The Home and Garden Show went off without any hitches this last week.  We walked away with several good leads and potential sales to add to our ever growing list of 20 pools already sold and on the books for 2016.  It's only March people!!  Again, not complaining, as we are uber thankful this is the case.  We are also thankful for a larger staff this spring.  Steven still works 60 plus hours many weeks this time of year, but hopefully the added staff will allow him some time to continue working on the two full houses we will also be building this year (one flip and one personal house).  I mentioned we are busy, didn't I?

7.  To top it all off...It's SPRING BREAK week around here!  Spring break are days off for the kids, but not so much the parents so we rarely (never) take vacations this time of year.  I did try to plan several fun (local) things to do with the boys on their days off.  The first thing we did was book a hotel room for the boys to swim and play.  Swimming is one of their favorite activities so they enjoyed this 24 hour getaway quite a bit.  On the calendar for the rest of SB is mini golf, movie, St Patrick's party, and a Thunder game (more on that later).

I hope everyone else has a wonderful Spring Break with your family and friends!  Talk to you soon!
