Today I took the boys to the Oklahoma Aquarium. It is located about 20 minutes away in Jenks, OK. I am thankful they had their free coupons from the summer reading program. That saved me $20. Geez, that place is NOT cheap! I am glad they got to go though and experience, touch, and interact with nature up close and personal. That was right up Owen's alley. Will enjoyed it too but not to the level Owen did. I could hear his squeals and shouts over any other person's child in the place. "Momma, come here! Momma, look at this! Momma, touch this! Momma, look at those baby fish. They are sooo cute!" He truly was in his "love of animals" environment!
Will's favorite part of the Aquarium trip was probably the sharks. He was mesmorized by how close he could get to them and "touch" them through the glass. It is pretty cool seeing this huge and dangerous creatures swimming directly over your head. That is one of the neatest shark exhibits I have seen anywhere.
Owen's favorite activity had to be the sea turtles. They have them set up right there at kid level where you can feed and touch them. There are tons of them just milling about in their habitat and don't care whose little hands bother them as long as those little hands have food in them. It was nice to finally take Owen somewhere where he was ALLOWED to actually touch and feel and learn. So many times I have to tell him not to do that and today I didn't have to say that (that was very nice!).
We have a very busy rest of the week to get ready to leave for Florida this weekend. A very special someone also has a birthday party on Saturday right before we leave. It was enjoyable to just spend some 1 on 2 time with my boys today watching them learn and have fun together.
