Owen Michael is a Kueny through and through. Friendly=check, outgoing=check, social butterfly=check. While at Bass Pro over the weekend he proved that more than ever. Rewind to Will at this age 3 years ago and you would see a much different story unfolding. Man/woman dressed up as any sort of creature/animal? Crying, fear, and puke from Will. Man/woman dressed up as any sort of creature/animal for Owen....thumbs up, bear hugs, kisses, high 5's from Owen. Seriously, he would not leave the poor snowman alone. The snowman would walk away only to be chased down by Owen, hugged again, talked to again, and given yet ANOTHER thumbs up sign from my 3 year old. Meanwhile, Will was off coloring a train picture sitting quietly and talking to his Daddy about which shade of blue to use on the sky. Oh the differences....
I am not even kidding when I say that my 3 year old persuaded the Reindeer to take a picture with HIM. Not the other way around. As we're walking out the door, Owen shouts "Hey deer, come take a picture with me." The Reindeer hops on the back of the 4 wheeler and Owen grins proudly. I was cracking up at his boldness while Will stood at my leg quietly playing Madden football on my cellphone (not even glancing at the Reindeer in front of him).
I did get them together for one minute for their first Christmas Santa picture of the season. Ho Ho Ho 2012 Santa!!!!!!!
There is a lot of orange on this blog but I will let it slide in honor of our missing soldier in Afghanistan this Thanksgiving. My Aunt had the great idea of everyone getting together and sporting OSU gear for a big picture for Joe. Between Angela, Joe, and Kasey we had enough OSU gear to outfit 27 people. Crazy!
Everyone put on their best Cowboy faces and fingers (something with make a L for loser and then turn in sideways)? I wasn't getting it but then again I am an OU fan so I don't think I was supposed to understand it. All in good fun. I had no problem donning OSU wear for a picture that Joe would get a kick out of and enjoy. 90% of the people in the picture were OU fans but I didn't hear a stink out of any one but my husband. Geez. It's 5 minutes for your brother in law in Afghanistan. I think you can handle it Steven!
Here are our best 2 shots. I don't think either one is perfect but I think they are perfect for Joe and that's all that matters. WE MISS YOU JOE!!!!!!!!!
In honor of this guy, my brother in law Joe, we all had an OSU themed Thanksgiving. More on that tomorrow....
We had close to 30 people show up at Mom and Dad's house this year for Thanksgiving. We were celebrating the healing of my 5 year old cousin from Leukemia and were also missing Joe. We were all able to FaceTime with him on Thanksgiving day so that was fun. I am so thankful for technology and I know my sister is too!
Thanksgiving was actually the first time I have ever seen my mom in an OSU shirt. On the flip side, it is the first time I had ever seen her in any college shirt. OU, Tulsa, OSU, Texas...she could care less.
I loved being able to see all the original cousins as well. We DO NOT get to be together enough for any of our liking. One is in San Antonio, one in Ardmore, two in Broken Arrow, and another in Tulsa. Too spread out for me. It was so awesome to see them and connect with them again. We have many pictures of us five throughout the years. Here is 2012's picture:
I am thankful for many things this Thanksgiving. Friends, family, my family's health, my freedom, my job, my bed and the list goes on and on. Another added bonus this Thanksgiving season is noted below. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!
Today both of my boys had their Thanksgiving feasts at school. Will's was first at 11am. He was all decked out in his hat, noodle necklace, and pilgrim vest. Several parents had gotten there early to set up 26 plates for the kids, open juice boxes, and help decorate. Will was very excited to see Owen and I walk in. I had told Owen earlier not to be upset because he wasn't going to be able to eat at this feast. His was an hour later. He asked a few times for some bites of his brother's but for the most part, he just pulled up a chair (he literally did it himself) and talked with Will's friends and entertained the table. Will just smirked at his brother and silently finished his lunch. They are beyond different!
Will made a placemat for today's occasion also. I got a big kick out of it. The teacher didn't tell the kids how to spell their words. She made them sound it out and figure out which letters formed the words. I think Will did a pretty good job of "spelling" for an early Kindergartener. If you were wondering...the five things he was thankful for were: his bed, daddy, momma, school, and football. The last one is hard to diciver but football it was:)
Not an hour later we moved onto Owen's feast. Owen doesn't even go to school on Monday's but his teachers didn't want to leave him out so they invited him for the 45 minute feast portion of the day. I thought that was very thoughtful of them! Owen was excited about his turkey hat and pilgrim vest. Of course, he wasn't too hungry since he has just finished mooching off of his brother's plate 45 minutes before! We were there an hour and in that time I was able to take only 2 pictures of Owen. He was eating in both. This boy is a Fournier through and through! Kueny personality, Fournier stomach! Happy early Thanksgiving to everyone!
Courage, sacrifice, honor. All for me and my family and my freedom. I am always thankful for those who serve in any branch of the military. Today, on Veteran's Day, I am even more thankful when I stop and see and feel first hand the sacrifices they and their families make.
My cousin, Stephan, is Marines. He is stationed right now in Afghanistan. I am not sure where he is located exactly or what he even does. All I know is that he is over there and I am here and I am safe because of him. Him and so many other thousands just like him. He left behind in Oklahoma his little toddler daughter and family. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival home. Thank you Stephan Fournier!
My brother in law, Joe, is Air Force. He has gone and more deployments than I can count. Turkey, London, Saudi, Afghanistan (more than once). Right now he is also in Afghanistan. He is there and I am here safe and free because of men and women like him. He left behind his wife (my sister) and two little girls ages 4 and 7 (almost) that totally understand and feel the effects of Daddy being gone for so long. For him, I am thankful. Thank you Joe Franco!
Lastly, thank you to my husband. He served in the Air Force as well. He was stationed in San Antonio, then Biloxi MS, then Belleville IL where I joined him and lived our first 3 years of marriage. He served right around 9/11. We lived on an AFB when 9/11 occurred. He did round the clock shifts, 12 hour shifts, on call duty shifts. He couldn't leave the base for any reason. He couldn't leave his work station for many reasons either. He worked long hours attempting to protect a very fragile and hurting America. For him I am thankful. Thank you Steven Kueny!
I finally got my too busy hubby to plant a new tree for us in the front yard. The old one had died and I lived with that ugly thing in my yard for much too long. I wanted something pretty and I wanted something bigger. This is what I got. I love it! It took forever to dig and plant but it was worth it. It is gonna look even prettier next Fall after a year in the ground:)
My Monday night was finished up with the cousins and sister coming over for dinner. Last nights dinner I made was Lousiana Chicken Nuggets (spicy nuggets made with Lousiana Hot Sauce), parmesan noodles, and a house salad. To top off dinner I made pumpkin spice cookies with a cream cheese icing. Will got the idea that if you put the cookie up to your lips, it looked like a happy face. So, of course, all 4 of them wanted to be photographed showing their "pumpkin cookie happy faces".
Tuesday morning I woke up and dragged Owen along with me to exercise my right to vote in America. Now, we just have to wait it out to see what America decided but my vote is for a new President to go along with my new Tree!!!
Last night Will and Owen got to enjoy some Halloween candy from their bags of goodies they collected last week. Last night's choice was apple Fun Dip. Oh what fun that was! They loved it but of course Owen ate his stick before he realized he wasn't supposed to and had to finish the Fun Dip with his fingers. Oops. Good thing I cleaned Will off good and sparkly because the next morning he had to be all stylin' for his first reward as a Kindergartener. He didn't know he was getting an award this morning. It was all a suprise to him!
There are over 300 Kindergartener's in his school. Probably closer to 330 and 36 kids got the award this morning. I was so very proud of him. He didn't know he was getting anything. He thought I was just there to watch his class sing a few songs. Once they started calling names out...naturally the teacher in charge pronounced his name wrong. Sorry honey, get used to it. It has happened to Momma my ENTIRE life. First with Fournier and now with Kueny. No one ever gets it right. Anyways, they said Will (Queen-E). He had no idea they were even talking about him so a teacher had to nudge him. Funny!
Thank you to Miss Armstrong for being a wonderfully gifted teacher to Will and the other 25 kiddos in his class. I don't know how she does 26 Kindergartener's all by herself every day, but she does and we are thankful for her. Great job Will. Momma is so very proud of you everyday but even more on these days when everyone around you at school sees what I see on a daily basis. Way to go!
