A Sneak Look

I have not ordered my shots yet and decided what all I want to buy but I do know what I fell in love with these three pictures and will buying these for sure!  I think the photographer did an awesome job at capturing all 18 of us (mostly children).  Rachel and Charles have 5 kids: Eli, Sophie, Lola, Anderson, and Oliver.  Joey and Lauren have 2 kids: Sailor and Ryatt.  Of course, you know our kids:)

We are a blessed family!

Family Pictures in Norman

This weekend we drove to Norman to celebrate Rachel (Steven's sister) and her birthday.  We also took family pictures (all 18 of us) together on Sunday morning on one of the most beautiful campus's in the USA.  I might be a little bias but OU is beautiful.  I can not think of many more words to describe it.  I have loved it and probably always will.  Getting all 18 of us together and on time and all dressed in similar colors was a task.  We did it though!  I don't have any of the professional pictures yet for a blog but here are some that I just snapped throughout the hour we were there for family pictures.

Owen Part 2

Like I said earlier there are so many stories that I could tell about Owen.  Just the other day I decided to begin writing some blogs about the funny things that Owen does or says.  Just the other day...now 2 or 3 more hilarious things were said that I wanted to blog about.

On Wednesday night I took Owen with me to run some errands.  As we were driving he begins to talk to me about his birthday party he had at Bass Pro back in July.  I said, "Where do you want your party next year?"  He replied..."Um, I think Wal Mart.  Or Nini's house."  Random. I began prodding why he would chose WM to have a 5th birthday party at.  He said (in his 4 year old reasoning), "Well, Wal Mart has blue cookies but Nini has blue cookies too, so now I don't know...."  Classic.

So since we are talking about Wal Mart I will mention something he said to me while strolling the aisles with me on Wednesday night.  We were just walking and talking (Owen is ALWAYS talking) and he asked me a question I wasn't totally prepared for.  "Momma, can we invite Tony Stark to dinner?"  Me (thinking) Tony Stark?  Who's that?  Then it dawned on me..."Tony Stark?  As in Ironman?" He looked at me and so clearly stated, "Of course, who else would I be talking about?"  I didn't even know he knew that Ironman's name was really Tony Stark.  That boy is smart.

Not smart enough to realize that it is improper to play baseball naked though.....

Life with Owen

Life with Owen is full of adventure, fun, and laughs.  Kids this age say the funniest things.  More with Owen than with Will (mostly because Will just didn't and still doesn't talk very much) I forget the funny things that he says so often.  I have started writing them down and periodically I am going to begin blogging about them to document so even I, later on, can come back and read about them.  You might not think some of the things he says is funny but much of what he says comes with the delivery and how he says it.  You have to see his face at the same time he is saying it to really get the true laughs in.  Below are just a few things he has said recently that I find hilarious and just a few random pictures over the years that note his personality.
 1.  Just a few days ago I asked Owen why he was being so cranky.  He couldn't really give me an answer.  I said, "Owen, you need to fix your attitude."  About 5 minutes later (as he was silent the whole time) he said, "Okay Momma, I fixed my attitude.  I fixed it with a wrench and a saw."  I said, "did you use a hammer too?"  "Oh yes, I used a hammer too.  I forgot about that one!"  And he really did.  His attitude was fixed for the rest of the day.

2.  Recently my friend (who is still nursing a baby) watched Owen while I was working.  He was fascinated with the nursing process.  He asked her why he was only drinking.  Wouldn't the baby need food later?  Wasn't he gonna get hungry?  She said "yes, he's gonna eat some peaches later."  Owen replied with, "Your boobies make peaches too?!!"

3.  Along the same story line...he saw the baby a week or so later.  My mom was there for Will's football game and said "Oh Owen, that baby is so cute." Owen just looked at the baby and looked at my mom and so clearly stated "He eats boobies."

I thought those were funny.  More Owen stories to come....

First Game of the Season

Saturday morning came and Will's fever had been gone for 24 hours so off to his first flag football game of the season we went.  This is the second year Will has played for Almighty Sports and the second year Steven has coached his team.  To put it lightly...Will was stoked for his game to begin.  He awoke bright and early (before 6:30am) to ask me relentlessly when we were leaving for the game.  Oh, I prayed that 2 hours would pass quickly!

We got to the game early for Steven to set up and the boys to begin a little warm up.  Of course, little brother has to look just like Will.  Practice like Will, dress like Will, play like Will, run like Will...the list goes on and on.  Owen can't wait till he gets to play next Fall when he will be 5 years old.  The countdown is on!

Will played awesome. He pulled several flags of the ones he could catch.  That other team was super quick!  He tried extremely hard to catch all the flags but more got by him than he would have liked.

He got the first touchdown of the game.  I heard everyone yelling so I look up and it is lightening fast Will running down the sidelines (to avoid getting his flag pulled) and rushing to the endzone.  He was so proud and so was his Momma!

Will's team lost their first game but he took the loss like a champ and only said "next time we gotta play faster and better!"  Way to go Tigers on your first game and great job Will Parker!

My Second Favorite Season

It's that time of year again...FALL!  I love Fall but it ranks 2nd to my favorite season which is Spring.  I love many things about Spring but mostly it is the color and the life you see everywhere after months of dead, sticks, brown, snow, and cold.  Spring is awesome.  Fall is pretty awesome too though.  I REALLY love Fall this year since I am training for a huge run.  I long for the mornings and evenings where the humidity is gone and the temperatures are cool.  Not cold, just cool.  I have waited longer than normal to decorate this year because I just couldn't get into it when it was still 100 degrees outside.  Today it is a nice cloudy day and the temps are in the low 80's so since I am stuck home all day with a sick kiddo I decided to be productive.

The boys love to help me decorate for each season.  Well, I should say Owen.  Will likes it for the first 2-3 minutes and then after placing his first item on a table somewhere I lose him to football plays.  Owen helped me the whole time.  He told me where to put things, how to lay them, where to move them around, and how many things to put on one table (with some assistance of course).  I think he did a pretty good job!

Bring on Fall.  Bring on cooler weather, light sweaters, pumpkin patches, hot chocolate, apple cider, hay rides, and beautiful leaves changing before our eyes.  I love God's creation!

Gross Out Pictures

To those of you not interested in fungal infections or Science you might not want to read this blog.  Just a forewarning....

On Tuesday when I picked Will up from school I noticed that he looked pretty sleepy.  He had no fever and was acting normal except for a headache.  On Wednesday when I picked him up I could immediately tell he had a fever by looking at his "fever eyes".  I never could tell fever eyes or see them before having children of my own.  Now I know before even touching my kids if they have a fever or not.  Sure enough, over 100 when we got home.  In the 5 minutes it takes to drive back to our house he was already asleep.

Fast forward 12 hours and the fever was now around 101 and these sores began opening up and oozing.  Hot and red and painful looking.  I found out from another mom in his class that her son had been diagnosed with Staph Infection.  Awesomeness.  So, I found a sub for my gymnastics classes this morning, took little brother to his school, and took big brother to the doctor.  It wasn't Staph but rather Infantigo or Impetico (some people call it).  It is a form of Staph.  It is a fungus and an infection (which was causing his fever).

Thankfully we live in a country where he can have medicine quickly.  Got his prescription this morning and after 24 hours he will no longer be contagious.  We are stuck at home for another day though because he can not be around others.  Pray for quick healing and for his fever TO BREAK.  All he cares about is that tomorrow night is football practice and Saturday morning at 9am is his first flag football game of the season.  Sores aside...he would be heartbroken if he had to miss that.

Science lesson for the day complete!  Even sick this boy is sweet.  Hasn't moved much from this position on the couch but never complains.  Get well soon Will!

Drawings

I don't know if it's because he's a boy, or left handed, or because he's only been 4 for 6 weeks but Owen is still learning to write his name.  He's got the O down but after that it gets a little sketchy.  I have been working with his name for awhile now.  We've used chalk, whipped cream, shaving cream, food pieces.  He's gonna get it.  It is just taking longer than it did with Will and I am trying not to compare the two.  This picture was taken after some chalk work.  We wrote, traced, and drew all around his name.

Will, on the other hand, has always been a very good writer, drawer, and awesome at coloring.  Today I got a picture that he drew of him and I at school.  I laugh because our fingers are pretty hilarious.  He was quick to point out that there was nothing wrong with this picture.  He had everything totally accurate.  1.  We were colored vanilla.  2.  He gave me "long" hair 3.  Our fingers might be long but there are 5 on each hand 4. His ears are bigger than mine.

Those were seriously all his words and I love it!

Time with O Man

Now that Owen only goes to school 3 days a week I have had some more time with him.  3 days of the week we normally end up killing about an hour before we have to go pick up Will.  I hate to drive all the way home only to turn around and leave again.  Some days it's Target, others it's Starbucks, sometimes the library or a car wash.  The list can go on and on....

Two things about Owen that I have known for awhile now.  1.  He looks like his Daddy.  Walks like him, talks like him, makes expressions like him.  When he wears his Daddy's glasses in his Daddy's trunk he is my own mini version of Steven Kueny.

2.  He will talk to a wall.  He proved it by talking to a statue.  Did he care that the statue never moved or wouldn't respond?  No!  It only made him talk to him more.  He didn't want to leave this hunk of concrete but alas we had to go get brother.

He's a funny dude!

Simple Pleasures

Today on the radio they were doing a call in and having people discuss simple pleasures in their lives.  Things that they could live without but don't really want to.  Free, or inexpensive things that just make the days better.  It got me thinking...what are my simple pleasures?

For your reading enjoyment...10 of my simple pleasures.  Not really in order, just 10 random things I thought about:)

1.  A kiss
2. The sound of my boys laughing
3. Clean sheets
4. A Starbucks
5. A good book
6. A glowing Christmas tree at night
7. A bargain!
8. Soft toilet paper
9. Comfy pants
10. The smell of my Mom

There you have it. Now your day is complete!  What are your simple pleasures?

A Second Try

Today Owen started his new preschool.  Well, it's not really new because he has gone there off and on since age 2 1/2.  It is new this year though.  It is an incredibly long story that starts all the way back to May when I enrolled him in Broken Arrow Public Schools for the first time.  I don't really feel like delving into all that was done wrong in that district and how it effected my baby.  Needless to say, he was happy today.  I was happy.  He liked being back with his friends and even though this was not originally where I wanted to place him for school I know in the end I MUST do what is right for Owen.  I have total peace now with where he is at, his teachers, and the classroom.  He didn't even turn around to tell me bye this morning.  He just walked right in like he owned the place.  That is exactly what I wanted.

Happy "First day of Preschool" Owen.  Momma loves you!

"Baby" at the Park

Yesterday after school it wasn't unbearably hot.  Probably only around 89.  We had about 45 minutes to kill before picking up big brother so I took Owen to a local park.  I love one on one time with my children.  I think that is so very important for your relationship.  Both boys love undivided attention they receive from Steven or I when we are alone with them.  I was happy to give that to Owen yesterday.

Not each time I take pictures (because I tend to take a lot of pictures) but SOMETIMES when I take pictures I just stop and stare.  Stop and look to see how much my boys are growing.  This process makes me a little sad but at the same time I love seeing them grow and mature.  I am thankful they are growing because each day is a bit more independence and a bit more of them becoming the men I want them to be one day.

For now this "man" is still 4.  He loves the park and exploring the "river" that was just a touch of water.  He had to take his shoes and socks off and get dirty and muddy.  He had to walk through the weeds, the ticks, the dirt and explore.  I let him because these days are fading slowly (even though I want to stop time).  He will not always be 4.  One day he will be 34 and a husband and daddy of his own.  I will wonder where these times went and be even more thankful that we had these days to share together.

I love my "baby" Owen Michael Kueny.
