Have you ever had a weekend, or a week, or a month that just seems filled with good? We all have bad. Probably more than we would like to think about. We all have good too and sometimes mixed in with all the bad and all the problems of the world we don't take time to stop and see the good. We don't take time to live in the moment and "stop and smell the roses" (which for most of us in the Northern Hemisphere those roses are now dormant and don't really have a smell) but I think you can figure out where I am going with this.
This weekend I decided to ONLY look at the good in our lives.
Praise Number One: We showed one of our flip houses not once, not twice, but THREE times in one day. I will continue to pray and believe for a buyer. I know they are there but never have we had to wait this long. I'm looking only at the good today and thanking God that THREE people looked at it!
Praise Number Two: I booked a plane ticket to see my best friend who lives in Kentucky. February 19th...Please come quickly!
Praise Number Three: We got to see our live long friend (well, since the age of 12) this weekend in OKC. We spent some time swimming, playing, and the next day having breakfast with him. Always such a blessing to have those people in your life that have been with you through dorky junior high years, dating years, married years, and now kid years.
Praise Number Four: Being present and in the moment with Owen. This is a hard one for me. He's so very busy. So very loud and crazy most of the time. Each M-F I get to spend 45 min of free time (without Will) with Owen and only Owen while we wait for Will to get out of school. He seems to really enjoy this time with me. I know I love it more, but I am still very thankful that we get to spend this time together. So, instead of complaining anymore that daily I have to "waste 45 minutes" of my day, I am going to think on those 45 minutes differently. They are Owen Minutes:)
Praise Number Five: My wonderful husband who creates beautiful masterpieces with chocolate and pretzels. My favorite indulgence when you throw in some strawberries.
Praise Number Six: My extremely hard working and diligent son Will. I see how hard this little boy works on a daily basis. It is just so encouraging and uplifting to me that other's recognize him too and acknowledge his hard work and "never give up" mentality. This is a boy that started 2nd grade below grade level and has now worked his range almost into 3rd grade (with only half of 2nd grade under his belt). No, he's still not the highest reader in his class (by a long shot), and he still might be the lowest for all I know. All I know, is that he never quits and continues to impress teachers year after year. For that I am so thankful.
What are you thankful for today? Think on those things and not on the bad. Love to you all!
