Traditions

As per our families normal Memorial Day tradition, we drove to Kansas City on Friday.  We had such a great time with family and friends!  The boys ALWAYS love coming to KC because of the Royals game.  The 1-2 times a year we come to the game we pretty much let them get what they want to eat and snack on throughout the game.  It's all about making memories for them!  We prefer when it's dollar night (and Friday wasn't) but we were just so happy that the game wasn't rained out and we could be there experiencing the game with 22 other friends and family members.  We had a large bunch and it was great!

Another great thing about the game was the score!!!  We were down 5-1 in the middle of the game.  The White Socks had gotten a few home runs on us (one was even a Grand Slam).  I can't imagine how loud that crowd would have been had we been in Chicago when that happened.  The dude hits a Grand Slam (which I have never witnessed in person) and the crowd is silent.  A Grand Slam.  I was actually kinda sad for him that he wasn't at his home field to experience that.

Royals made a remarkable recovery and we were able to watch them beat the other team in the 9th inning to win the whole game.  Still....NO RAIN.  We saw it looming, we saw it coming, we felt the wind change, but no rain.  No rain meant we would get to see the fireworks that all the kids had so patiently waited for.

I got to enjoy another Royals game with my 84 year old Papaw, see local KC family, take a picture of 3 generations of baseball watchers, and view the fireworks all in zero rain.  As soon as we were walking back to the cars it turned into a massive, soak through your clothes, downpour.  Talk about good timing!  Thank you Jesus!
