Our Family is Expanding!

Owen loves 3 things in life:

1. Animals
2. Nature/camping
3. Superhero's

Those are in no specific order but that pretty much describes our son to a tee. So, yesterday was a day of wonder for this almost 6 year old.  While big brother was having baseball practice I took him to some ponds and trails that are on our church campus.  He never even knew they were there and I knew about them from running (it's a 1 mile trail all the way around).  I love Spring time as I have said in the past. With spring comes babies and we were able to see about 12 little duckling babies with their parents.  It was so sweet and Owen just loves babies.  He's always so gentle with babies and/or little cute things.  It's pretty funny because this child isn't gentle with most anything else.

We were walking and exploring and Owen found some pretty purple plants that the bees were busy pollinating.  He loved them so much and declared, "This is Nini's favorite color. Let's take a picture of them and send it to her!"  So, that's exactly what we did.  He actually took this picture of the purple bush.  Steven wasn't with us so I couldn't tell you the name of it without the aid of Google.

On our nature walk Owen and I ran into many a duck, even MORE duck poop, lots of bees and flying insects, and even a turtle.  Yep, Owen found and carried the whole rest of the way (and brought home) to be his "2nd pet" a baby turtle.  I asked him where his mom and dad were and Owen said, "they are probably on a trip so we need to take him home with us."  Okaaayyyy....

So, without further ado I will introduce you to our newest Kueny family member...Reef Kueny.  Yes, Owen created that name all himself.  Does anyone know how long Reef will live?  I have a feeling it's not gonna be super long but who knows?  I've also heard turtles can live forever so I'm stumped as to how long Reef will actually be in our family.  He is currently hanging out in a large Tupperware bowl with some water and grass.

And just so you can see first hand Owen's love of Super hero's (as if you doubted me)...this was Owen on Wednesday when we had to run to Lowe's.  Yep.  Sometimes it's just easier to let him wear his costumes than finding his clothes again and making him change.  You're only a kid once right?  He got lots of smiles that night at the store and one little boy of about 7 walks right up to him, taps him on the shoulder, and says "Hey, cool costume man!"  Owen got a huge grin across that Iron Man face of his;)

This Sunday Owen, his daddy, and his Pappy are off to see the new Avenger movie.  He has informed me he WILL be going as an Avenger and just hasn't made up his mind yet if it is going to be Iron Man or
Hulk.

Stay tuned!!!
