Thursday night I got to do something I rarely do. I got to take 2 beautiful girls shopping with me. Rarely, I mean NEVER, do my boys want to willingly go shopping just to tool around and browse. Um no. You go in with a purpose, you buy the purchase, you walk out. That's
there take on shopping. Tonight I just got to have fun and spoil 2 lovely's for 2 hours. I was in Heaven and I think they were too. In 2 short hours we conquered Marshalls, Target, Starbucks, and QT for gas. That's a successful night in my book. What girl doesn't want to hit the dollar bin at Target followed by a Starbucks treat on the way out the door? I know 3 girls that were all for that yesterday!
I love you Ava and Emma!!
No one likes to see their babies hurting or sad. It's extra hard on me when I know how happy and joyful a person Owen normally is. These last 2 1/2 weeks have been extremely hard on his little soul. He's just like most kids that have a temporary adjustment period to school. Unlike most kids though, his began the night before with extreme emotions and crying. He would cry himself to sleep, wake up crying, cry all way to school, and have to be physically pushed into his classroom while kicking and crying. Oh just imagine how fun that's been. See, he's worn out as the picture shows:)
The last part of this week has been on the upswing. We have had so many people giving me some great ideas to try with him (some have worked, others not). I appreciate so much all the thoughts, prayers, kind words, and actions our family and friends have poured into this family this week. I can really feel them and I can see Owen beginning to adjust. Not sure how much longer it is going to fully take but for the last 2 days there have been ZERO tears so we are getting better! Thanks so much everyone!
See that little scrawny skinny thing standing over there with the number 4 on his back? That's Will! He is now a Lincoln football player. This year has been a big adjustment for him with moving from flag to tackle and changes schools from public to private. He's handled it
well (we've had some bumps in the last few weeks) but I feel as we are getting over the humps with this one. Owen is another story and another blog all together:(
Saturday's in our house used to be for sleeping in and taking it easy (Sunday's too for that matter) but for the next 8 weeks our weekends will be filled with tackle football on Saturday's and Fall Ball Baseball Double Headers on Sundays. The life of a boy mom.
Nothing makes me more proud than to watch my kids overcome fears, to not quit, and to step into something without giving up and attempting to try something even though they have never done it before. That's what Will is doing with tackle football and I was so ready for this past Saturday to get here so Will could play through some of
those fears. He needed to get that first game under his belt. He needed some more confidence when it came to tackling and running. He needed more and he got it and for that I am so thankful. His team won with a game one victory of 25-0. Not too shabby! The other Lincoln 2nd grade team also won 30-0. Way to go Bulldogs!
To celebrate another week of school in the books and a weekend full of sports we did what any other family would do when you already play TOO MANY SPORTS. We went to play Dodgeball. Let's just say Will got a little beat up this weekend but his words to me on Sunday night were "I had a blast!" That's a successful weekend in the books for the Kueny's folks!
On Friday I finally got to have a trunk show at one of our flip houses! I have been waiting to host one of these shows for months now for my friend Tanae and Braylin's Boutique (super cute stuff that she sells from On the Corner in BA). I told her I would host a show and wanted to do it at a flip house so my friends and family
could come see our home too. Finally one of them was done and Friday night many people came over to look at her cute stuff, to hang with some cool girls (and one guy), and to see my house.
I finally got to hang with Melinda too. She is such a
super great friend of mine but thanks to 5 boys between us and a crazy summer schedule I haven't got to see much of her lately. Thankfully, kids are back in school now and our oldest boys play on the same baseball team so at least every Sunday for 6 weeks we will get to see each other some:)
Now, another part of this blog. I have been on a journey since early May. It is now almost early September, so this journey has been 4 months now. I haven't said too much about it on Facebook but I have been trying to change my eating and lifestyle. I've been a runner for awhile now but just could NEVER seem to get my working out and eating all together at one time. Well, I finally just made myself do it. No fancy pills, no fancy drinks, no fancy anything. Just plain hard work and diet and exercise. I have now hit my goal weight loss of 20 pounds and feel great! I feel it in my clothes (of course). I've had to buy all new jeans for fall and winter. Even some of my shorts that I bought in May are now falling off me. I guess a good problem to have. Here are a few before and after pictures if you need motivation to do the same thing in your life. Clean eating is where it's at. Lean meats and protein. In my life for these 4 months I have stuck to these few rules: no caffeine, no/low sugar, no/low carbs. Doing just those things allowed me to lose weight but then mixed in with exercise and 20 pounds gone in 4 months. Boom! You can do it too!!!!!

There's nothing cuter than a toothless smile and Will is bravely working his way into loosing many teeth all at the same time:) I love these smiles and watching him navigate food and chewing with a mouth full of holes, half grown teeth, and loose teeth. It's so cute to watch. I love how my babies are growing up. Well, that's actually a love/hate relationship that I'm sure most parents can understand. We started off 2nd grade with a bang this year. 2nd day of school and he lost his first top tooth. Here's to growing up!
My boys really enjoy camping. They love the outside and the bugs, dirt, golf, swimming, river, rocks, s'mores, late night movies, and riding golf carts. Both love it. Owen ADORES it. He thrives here. He wakes up in the morning and I literally do almost zero parenting of him the entire day. He entertains himself and is in his element for 15 straight hours.
Case in point...Bigfoot hunting. All my boys (Daddy too) are Bigfoot believers. They all love "hunting" him throughout the house, watching shows like "Finding Bigfoot" on Animal Planet (yes, that's a real show),
and searching and/or talking about him at any point in any conversation. So, what do Steven and Owen do while camping? You guessed it! Owen came out of the woods and proclaimed, "Well, I did some tree knocks and some Bigfoot calls but we didn't see him today!" Oh my. I am shocked. SHOCKED!
Well, they might be Bigfoot believers but Owen is also a believer in getting smarter:) He has been working all summer on his letters with me. Over the weekend he got all 26 and I couldn't be more proud of my Bigfoot believing, camping lover, ABC master of a son!
For the past 2 weeks Will has been doing something totally out of his comfort zone. Football...
You might say "Will loves football!" You would be accurate. But, my friends, Will has NEVER played tackle football. He's always played flag and been really confident in that sport. This is a whole new thing, with new plays and
calls, new positions, new teammates, new field, new uniform with pads and helmet, new everything. It has taken him several practices to feel comfortable out there. Sadly, I still don't think he is liking it like he does flag. He's out there and he's trying and he's NOT QUITTING and for that I am proud of him.
I did tell him that he must finish this team and help his team out in any way that he can. If he still doesn't like it come the end of the season or would rather play tackle next year (just not for the Bulldogs) than I would find a league for him to play in. The important thing is is that he is trying something totally new for him and attempting to do his best at it. That makes me a proud mom.
See, this child is more like this personality and a NON FIGHTER. That's why, I believe, non contact sports are his
way to go. He shines in flag, baseball, and golf. Tackle? We shall see. He could totally surprise me and love it and want to play next year again. If that happens, I will be right there supporting him. If not, I will be on another field somewhere in OK watching him play flag. Either way, he's happy and that's my job as a parent:)
